Last Monday, as soon as I reached home from office, Rich came running and jumped to my lap saying - “Di-Di has come”.
I didn’t understand much. I thought may be somebody had come to our house though at the shoe rack, I didn’t notice any addition. The moment my wife came to the drawing room, I asked her if anybody had come while handing over my tiffin bag to her.
She said - “Noo. Are you expecting anybody?” and turned back to keep the bag at kitchen.
I said – “Rich just mentioned that Di-Di has come”.
My wife took another turn and asked Rich – “Who has come?”
By the way in Bengali “Di-Di” means elder sister. Rich promptly answered – “My Di-Di has come, my Di-Di” pointing at me.
My wife and I exchanged a surprised look.
“Sweet heart I am your Dad-Dad” – I clarified
Rich clarified – “D for Dad D for Dad”.
We exchanged another surprised look. We had taught him – D for Dad.
From then on he started calling me “D-D” though it sounds more like “G-G” due to extra tenderness and affection.
